SomeJarn is a woman who is over 100 years old (no exact age is known) in a country of Bangladesh where the life expectancy rate is 67 at birth (Unicef statistic 2009). She migrated from Tangail and now lives in the the Chars of north-western Bangladesh, one of the poorest areas in the country. She has 5 sons and 3 daughters and spent her live as a housewife. He husband pass away 15 years ago and she now lives with some of her children who take care of her. At her advanced age she has no major health issues or concerns she could name, however she does have a lock of hearing. SomeJarn moved multiple times during her lifetime and as every inhabitant of Chars never know when she might have to move again. The Chars where she lives at are shifting sandbar islands within the Jamuna-Brahmaputra river system. These islands out of which many are covering less than a square mile, appear and vanish with the floods and the flow of sediments from upriver. June 21, 2011.
